As a non-profit website, Conversation Among The Ruins relies entirely on contributions from writers. Please be aware that the editors cannot pay anybody for their contributions, and all articles are submitted with this knowledge in mind. We hope to attract writers who write purely for the joy of writing, and anticipate that this will provide a variety of interesting and intelligent pieces of work as a result.

All are welcome to contribute to the website. We are looking for writers on such subjects as world and local issues, philosophy, the arts, sport, travel and creative writing. We encourage writers all across the spectrum of thought, with all politics and opinions welcome. We are also interested in attracting photographers, artists and cartoonists to the site.

If you are interested in submitting an article, then please take into account the following points when doing so.

Nothing racist, homophobic, libellous or downright offensive please. We trust our contributors to use their common sense when writing articles. While Conversation Among The Ruins supports all forms of debate, abusive and inflammatory material is not acceptable. The same goes for libel – when making a statement about an individual or organisation, can you be entirely sure that what you are saying is true? Not only are such assertions illegal, and could land you and the website in court, it is also fair to say that quite frankly, it is poor journalism.

The copyright of the article will be that of the contributor. While Conversation Among The Ruins agrees to publish your articles, we also feel that the copyright should remain with you. If an outside party contacts us regarding reproducing your work, we will contact you to ask you for your permission.

If your work has or will be published elsewhere, please inform us. The last thing we want is an angry website or magazine claiming that we have stolen one of their articles! If your work is in print elsewhere then please notify us and the other media source.

We aim to edit your work as little as possible. Conversation Among The Ruins will attempt to publish your work in its entirety. We do hold the right to edit spelling and grammatical mistakes, but apart from this we hope to leave articles as they are submitted. Please be aware that if you include references within your article that we may sometimes check them to make sure that they are correct.
